2008 Pensioners Banquet
The 2008 Pensioners Banquet was another great success with over 220 Pensioners, active Fire Fighters and Honoured Guests in attendance. Those on hand honoured new Retirees Frank Coruzzi, Bill Melnyk, Ross Blair and Tom Worsley. Pictures of the event can be seen in the photo gallery. Special thanks to Rob Kimbell for organizing another great event and congratulations to our new Retirees.

Benefits Update
The Executive Committee met with Director of Labour and Employee Relations Lora Fontana last week to discuss our problems with Manulife. The Corporation has agreed to settle all orthotic claims as well as a number of other benefit issues.

New Recruits start September 2nd
On September 2nd 24 new Recruits started at the SFRC. On Thursday September 4th President Watson and Secretary Summers had an opportunity to meet with the Members and briefly discuss some collective agreement and constitutional issues. Earlier, Treasurer Stark and Pensions and Insurance Chair Marv Allemang met with them as well to discuss pension and insurance issues. On behalf of the Executive Committee and all Members, we wish our new Recruits all the best during training and look forward to working with them in the Stations.
