New Recruits start September 2nd
On September 2nd 24 new Recruits started at the SFRC. On Thursday September 4th President Watson and Secretary Summers had an opportunity to meet with the Members and briefly discuss some collective agreement and constitutional issues. Earlier, Treasurer Stark and Pensions and Insurance Chair Marv Allemang met with them as well to discuss pension and insurance issues. On behalf of the Executive Committee and all Members, we wish our new Recruits all the best during training and look forward to working with them in the Stations.

Benefits for Probationers
Brothers and Sisters,
The Executive Committee and the Corporation have recently come to a settlement regarding benefits for Probationers. This grievance was filed in November 2005 and related to health and dental benefits in the first 90 days of employment. Therefore, as terms of the settlement, any Member who was a Probationer then, or since, and has charges relating to benefits contained in the Collective Agreement, will be paid upon proof of receipt.
Please send any receipts to the Secretary for processing or call if you have any questions.

2006-2008 Contract Update
Curently we have nothing new to report on the 2006-2008 Collective Agreement. The Nominees and the Arbitrator have not met as of yet for Executive sessions. Hopefully they will do so soon and get the award out as quickly as possible. However, there is no time frame.
