On Sunday June 2nd, a Hamilton Fire Fighter Team consisting of Larry Rees, Craig Shaw, Justin Couperus and Eddie Davies participated and won the first annual “Bayfront Builders” Challenge.   Each team had approximately 3 hours to construct a 6′ x 8′ shed. Once completed, the team’s finished product was judged by a panel of industry experts on overall design, workmanship and proper finishing techniques.

Threshold School of Building is a non-profit organization that teaches basic building and employability skills to youth with barriers to employment in the City of Hamilton.  These skills are taught through a combination of hands-on instruction in our workshop and on-site at projects for non-profit and community organizations.  To date, Threshold School of Building has completed over 40 community projects, the majority of which are found within the City of Hamilton’s Priority Neighbourhoods.  Projects not only build skills and experience but instill a social conscience in our youth.  Since 2001, over 300 new construction skilled workers have graduated from Threshold’s programs.

Thanks again to Larry, Craig, Justin and Eddie for participating in this event and congratulations on the win.
