Hamilton’s first ever Camp FFIT (Female Firefighters in Training) took place from October 16-18, 2015. The Hamilton Fire Fighters  Association Local 288 contributed towards the cost of healthy lunches for the participants. 20 young women aged 16-19 were introduced to all aspects of the fire service, from search and rescue to fire prevention to health and fitness. Instructors included members of Hamilton Fire, as well as firefighters from London, Kitchener, Brampton, and Toronto. All feedback indicated that the participants enjoyed and were challenged by the 3 days of training. The camp was a key opportunity to introduce motivated young people in our community to our profession.

Congratulations to all the participants and special thanks to Hamilton Fire Fighter Pike Krpan for organizing the event.  We look forward to seeing you all next year.
