The HPFFA Charity has been a long supporter of the Threshold School of Building. In a typical non-Covid year, Threshold hosts the Bayfront Builders Challenge fundraiser. This event includes teams of community groups participating in a fun building challenge (in which projects are eventually auctioned off), activities for kids, music, food and more.
The HPFFA is proud in 2021 to be able to make a $1500 donation to Threshold and with our friends at Tandia Financial Credit Union who have matched the amount for a total of $3,000!
THRESHOLD School of Building is a registered charity that was incorporated in 2001. The School teaches essential building skills and knowledge in an inclusive, supportive and safe environment, providing opportunities to apply those skills through participation in community and affordable housing projects.
THRESHOLD’s activities fall into 3 primary areas:
– Ready To Work (RTW) – an intensive 12-week construction trades program that includes job-site experience and support for youth aged 15-30 who face barriers to employment;
– General Home Maintenance (GHM) – an affordable evening program that teaches the general public methods of home repair in order to maintain their own homes; and,
– THRESHOLD Construction – a social enterprise employing RTW graduates and specializing in custom deck, fence and shed construction.
