The HPFFA paid it forward on May 31 by donating $500 to Food4Kids Hamilton.  The donation was in thanks to the Mitch Marner Assist Fund, Brother Wendt and The Burger’s Priest for supplying lunch to all of C Platoon on Monday.

Why did all of this happen?  Mitch Marner and his foundation are fundraising for Covid-19 relief funds as well as PPE for front-line workers.  As part of Mitch’s efforts, he is participating in the Burger Showdown in Toronto and enlisted help of our very own Brother Wendt.

What is the Burger Showdown?

The Burger Showdown kicked off on May 28 — National Burger Day — at some of the best burger joints across North America. In Toronto, local restaurants teamed up with local celebrities to create new burger recipes for fans to enjoy. One of these burger options included Mitch Marner’s pick at Burger’s Priest.

Each celebrity teamed up with the chefs and owners of each burger joint and created an online episode of them making the burger for the Burger Showdown. Viewers can watch the episodes and order the burger creations from Uber Eats if they are in the delivery zone.

From May 28-31, fans could watch the chef-celebrity cooking segments and order the burgers from Uber Eats. Viewers were encouraged to vote for their favourite and the team behind the winning burger would receive a donation from Off The Menu to a charity of their choice. In Canada, The Burger Showdown is supporting the COVID-19 relief efforts by the Marner Assist Fund which has been supporting Second Harvest in addition to supplying frontline workers with PPE and meals.
