Brothers and Sisters,

It is with deep sorrow and regret that we advise you of the passing of Brother Walter Baumann at the age of 60.  Brother Baumann was a former Executive Committee Member for the Hamilton Professional Fire Fighters Association and has been the Chairman of the Health and Safety Committee for over 15 years.  His dedication and commitment to fire fighters health and safety earned him the OPFFA’s Patrick J. DeFazio Award.  Walters achievements are many but perhaps his greatest legacy will be the Occupational Health and Exposure Program.  This program which he spearheaded and helped develop was started after the Plastimet fire of 1997 and will track the health of the Hamilton fire fighters for 25 years. Walter was also a strong advocate for labour in our area.  Walter will be dearly missed by his Family, Friends, The Hamilton Professional Fire Fighters Association and the entire IAFF.

Brothers and Sisters,

It is with heavy hearts and regret that we advise you of the sudden passing of Brother Walter Baumann this morning.  Funeral details to follow when available.

Fraternally,

Ronald L Summers

Secretary, Hamilton Professional Fire Fighters Association
