The HPFFA participated again this year in the YWCA Hamilton Walk a Mile in Her Shoes.  This annual (and signature Hamilton) event raises funds and awareness to end violence against women.  Due to Covid, the Walk was virtual, with participants walking at home during the week of August 11-18.  That didn’t stop supporters of this amazing event though, as over $150,000 was raised!!

The HPFFA Charity, through fundraising primarily from payroll contributions from members, donated $1500 to the cause this year.  And our incredible friends at Tandia Financial Credit Union not only cheered us on during our “virtual walk” but they also sponsored the HPFFA team with a $3500 donation!!  Thank you Tandia!

YWCA Hamilton relies on funds raised by Walk a Mile in Her Shoes to provide a way out for women and children experiencing violence. Funds raised from this event provide safe housing that survivors need to escape abusers and get back on their feet. The YWCA provides safety, access to counselling, supports to help them become financially independent. You can help by visiting the YWCA web-site to learn more.
Fundraising for Walk a Mile in Her Shoes will continue until the end of August.
